Summer is fast approaching!

The days are getting longer, the weather is getting hotter, and the kids are getting restless. Looking to keep the kids busy, healthy, and having fun? We’re excited to be rolling out a brand new program, the first one of its kind here on St. Pete Beach- the Salt Water Adventures Camp.

Enrollment is open to pre-teens and teens ages 8 to 15 who are able to swim. From 10AM to 3PM, they not only enjoy supervised beach time, but learn beach safety and some of the hippest Gulf activities. Our instructors boast amazing credentials, accomplished in the fields of surfing, paddle boarding, kite boarding, and more respectively (plus, no need to worry- they’re CPR and first-aid certified). Introduction and techniques will be taught to campers in small groups for maximum enjoyment and achievement. Surfboards, paddle boards, paddles, rash guards, trainer kites, and bottled water are all provided. Just pack the kids up with lunch, sunscreen, and a towel and they’ll be good to go for a day filled with sun and fun! As an added bonus for you, expect a quiet evening at home later with your tired out kids.

Make a Wish Beach Walk, Pool Party, and Concert

Saturday May 21st is going to be a full day of great fun for a great cause!

Things kick off at 8AM with registration for the Make a Wish Foundation Beach Walk. Registration is only $10 and includes games, entertainment, and lunch courtesy of Wildwood BBQ & Burger. So, gather up your friends and walk along the beach from 10AM-11:30AM (before it gets too hot outside!), working up your appetite for food and fun while helping to make wishes come true for some very deserving kids in Pinellas County. After lunch at noon, live music will be performed directly on the beach from 2PM to 6PM by some amazing young performers.

VIP passes are also available through Backline Music Group (contact them at info@backlinemusicgroup.com or 813.250.0011). Advance purchase VIP passes are only $20 (or $25 at the door) and include two complimentary drinks and access to our Barefoot Wine VIP Poolside Party. You’ll feel good enjoying those comp drinks, knowing that 25% of each pass sold is donated to the Make a Wish Foundation!

PCI Welcomes Florida Palms

We're ready for the new banner!

We’re happy to welcome back our neighbors to the North, the Florida Palms Oldtimers, for the 31st Annual Florida Palms Hockey Tournament! Every year these guys pack up their equipment and venture from Canada, Michigan, and other artic tundras to join us here on sunny St. Pete Beach. When they’re not playing hockey or taking a swing at golf, they’re enjoying the finer things in life… drinks in the sun!

Yes, you read that correctly.

Sunday May 1st is the Ladies Only Martini Party in our picnic area for the wives and girlfriends. Wednesday May 4th, after some hockey, of course, the players and their ladies will gather for Sunset Shooter Hour behind PCI Beach Bar. For those who are not part of the tournament, be sure to join in on the hockey action by enjoying happy hour specials Sunday-Thursday and catching all the Playoff games on NHL Network at Wildwood and PCI Beach Bar!

Happy Wednesday! We’ve made it halfway through the week, moving ever closer to the weekend. That deserves celebration in itself, so let’s live it up on the weekdays!

Hay!(?) Welcome to WWBBQ!

How about joining us for a hearty meal at Wildwood BBQ & Burger? Wednesday is one of our favorite days becuase  it’s Smoke House Burger Day. This lunch special, available 11AM-4PM,  is indeed special- our classic burger topped with cheese and our famous pulled pork, served with french fries, coleslaw, and a soft drink. Creme Brulee is decidedly the best way to wrap up this filling meal… except when we’re craving Key Lime pie. Either way, we never leave hungry!

If you’re one of our friends in hospitality, you probably work through the weekends. It can be a bummer, but it also has its advantages. Here at PCI, our room rates are typically lower on weeknights, Sundays-Thursdays. So, while everyone else is working, why not treat yourself to a beach getaway? Heck, if you’re a nine-to-fiver who has to work every weekday, we totally commend taking a ”sick day” (::cough, cough, wink, wink::) to take advantage of great rates and great fun on the beach!

What about our favorite mid-week marker? Drink specials and live music out at PCI Beach Bar! Don’t forget about our happy hour deals, including 2 for 1 on all draft beers, available every Sunday-Thurday 4PM-7PM. This perfectly coincides with Jason Longoria’s 6PM-10PM set this evening. Woo hoo for Wednesday!

Artist Showcase Weekend

Come join us this weekend, March 26th and 27th, for the Artist Showcase Weekend, presented by Backline Music Group. Enjoy a weekend full of fun and music on the beach, all benefiting a great cause, “For the Children of Tampa Bay.”

Saturday is the “Barefoot Wine Charity Poolside Benefit” 7PM-10PM right out on our pool deck. (Don’t worry, our magnificent Junior Olympic size pool will still be open to guests!) Nic Cowan will be setting the mood with an intimate unplugged performance that is not to be missed, all while you’re barefoot poolside with a (plastic) glass of Barefoot Wine.

Sunday boasts the Beach Festival, kicking off at 1PM with a volleyball tournament just beyond PCI Beach Bar. As evening approaches the artists will take the stage, performing 4PM-8PM directly on the beach! This concert is free and open to all, so don’t miss high energy performances infusing soul, country, blues, and rock, by Nic Cowan with special guest Chris McCarty.

Could this weekend possibly get any better? Why, yes, it sure could! VIP passes are still available and include 2 drink tickets, and admission to the pool party and beach festival VIP areas. Spring is Finally Here!

This past winter was a little too long and a little too cold for us (we can only imagine how it was for our Northern friends!). We couldn’t be happier to be back out in the sun! In celebration of perfect beach days again here at PCI, we’re excited to announce some changes and new features.

 

‘SUP?

For those of you in the know, St. Pete Beach, with its cool Gulf temperatures and few waves, offers the perfect setting for Stand Up Paddleboarding. This increasingly popular sport is both an amazing workout and fun. We’re happy to welcome Shane, paddleboard instructor extraordinaire, to our team here at PCI. If you’re already a pro, rent a paddle board and hit the Gulf by yourself for $35 for one hour. If you’re not feeling ready to strike out on your own just yet, Shane offers reasonably priced private lessons to guests and visitors alike. We’re So Happy To See You…

We’re more than happy to announce new happy hour specials at PCI Beach Bar, available Sunday-Thursday (so you locals can come drop by!) 4PM-7PM. Come join us for 2 for 1 on all draft beers, $1 off all well drinks (WWBBQ always says ”liquor is quicker!”), $6 pitchers of Cold Ass Beer (our signature draft), and $5 starters (including wings!) for the non-drinkers. If you time it right, you can still have a cold drink in your hand while you watch one of our glorious St. Pete Beach sunsets (Gov. Christ did name SPB the Sunset Capital of Florida!). Yeah, weekdays just got that much better.

Hot Stuff

Many of our friends/guests have requested on site hot breakfast options and we’ve listened! The Snack Shack now serves up all kinds of breakfast goodness 7AM-10:30AM. We’re still debating whether our favorite is the PCI Breakfast Burrito filled with scrambled eggs, bacon (or turkey bacon!), pepper jack cheese, and salsa, or the Wild Wildwood Croissant with eggs, smoked pork, grilled tomato, and monterey jack cheese. Let us know which you prefer!

That’s Music to Our Ears

Not only have we filled up our entertainment schedule with music 6 nights a week, but we’re debuting new performers here at PCI. (Don’t worry, of course your favorites like Josh Magwood and Jason Longoria still have regular sets!) Our newer acts include Shakemode, TBone Hamilton Band, and Will Erickson, to name a few.  So come hang out with us and make Wednesday feel like a weekend (especially you locals and friends in hospitality who have to work weekends!) with live music and drink specials.

Around Town: St. Pete Beach Skatepark

Other than a few gaps and loading docks, SPB’s small downtown and security guarded parking lots, it doesn’t really lind itself to skating so it’s actually a relief to have a place to skate without looking over your shoulder. The park is located at the community Center, next to the Police Station ( 7701 Boca Ciega Dr) and features a 4′ quarter pipe on the south end, a wedge / 5 set combo in the middle leading into a 4′ corner bank, as well as a PVC bench, mini-picnic table and plenty of flat land. No membership or pads required. Snapped deck? Broken kingpin? No problem- Lenny’s has you covered and it’s less than a block away, and where else can you skate with views like these?

Surfrider 2011 Kickoff Party

The Surfrider Suncoast Chapter will kick things off right at PCI next Saturday, the 22, with there annual holiday party. Festivities begin at 6 and expect performances by Localism and Tribal Style, as well as an Austin Piazza acoustic session- not to mention prizes and raffles.

As always, Surfrider members receive special room rates starting at $79 / night.
