Screening of The More Perfect Yellow at PCI

Last night Postcard was proud to welcome the screening of the award-winning mockumentary, The More Perfect Yellow. The film, partially shot here on the property,  was selected over 164 others for the National Film Challenge’s coveted Audience Award as well as awards for Best Director, Best Screenplay, Best Production Design & Best Use of the Mockumentary Genre. A local collaboration, the film was directed by Coco Bermúdez as the groups second participating in the contest. Their first entry, Unspeakable, being polar opposite TMPY’s light and witty feel, depicting detectives, guns, and murder, not to mention scoring them some recognition as a strong competitor among the contest participants.

This is how the National Film Challenge works. Entrants are given 72 hours to write, film and edit their piece, genre preselected- “mockumentary,” they had incorporate the line “It’s like De Ja Vu all over again,” must contain a character named Mark or Mary Shapiro, unemployed, and make use of one object- that being the box of matches. The work was very impressive; not only in the production value, but the original, poetic scripting and hilariously awkward acting as well. The Perfect Yellow represents our Bay Area creatives’ well and proves what an enormous amount of talent this region has been blessed with. Thanks to all who came out.
